The Grove Expands This Sunday

From 2 to 3 Classes

Our children’s ministry is growing! Starting this week, we will offer 3 classes every Sunday:

  • Seeds (0-2 years old)

  • Roots (2-3 years old)

  • Sprouts (4-7 years old)

Details about The Grove are available here.

One Big Way Parents Can Help

Register your kids before the service. We set up for registration in the lobby each Sunday before the service. It helps check-in run smoothly when parents register their children before the service. Make plans to arrive early.

Thank You Volunteers

Our children’s ministry is run entirely by volunteers. Kirsi Turbedsky, Keith Cochran, and Stephanie Cochran are the leaders. They lead a team of church members who heroically volunteer with our kids each week. Thank them. Pray for them. Encourage them. Rejoice that God is using them to help us pass the gospel to the next generation.

Boomsmas to Bozeman

The Strength of Partnership

Ron Boomsma has pastored Sovereign Grace Church of Pasadena for over 25 years. This past Sunday was his final Sunday in Pasadena. He and his wife, Tami, are relocating to Bozeman, MT as Ron becomes senior pastor of Emmaus Road Church. Emmaus Road is a church in our denomination that’s been without a pastor for about a year.

Ron has been a wonderful partner and friend. He’s been a mentor to our pastors. He was instrumental in the planting of our church. He’s an expression of the strength of our partnership in Sovereign Grace Churches.

We thank God for Ron and Tami. We thank God for Sovereign Grace Church of Pasadena and commend them for their faith in sending the Boomsmas.

Please pray for Ron and Tami, Emmaus Road Church, and Sovereign Grace Church of Pasadena. Transitions always come with challenges, but we can confidently intercede for our friends as they enter a new season.

A New Course

The Evangelism Course

We’re hosting a new course for those who want to grow in the practice of evangelism. Evangelism is crucial to our mission, but, as everyone who’s tried it knows, it’s hard. This fall, we’re pulling together a cohort of evangelists in the church to get them equipped and encouraged as they do this most important task.

The class begins in September and goes for 9 months. There will be one evening meeting per month and some evangelism-specific homework to do between meetings. The focus is on doing evangelism rather than studying it.

The course is led by Eric Fang and Pastor Dustin. Spots are limited in order to keep the class small.

Head to the Evangelism Course page if you’re interested in registering. The deadline to sign-up is Sunday, September 8th. Send in questions to the church office.

Answers to Your Pressing Questions

Church Camp 2024
October 4-6
Idyllwild, CA

We’ve planned a weekend away and you’re invited. Just our church family — a refreshing time to meet with the Lord and each other.

Below, we’ve answered the most frequent questions we get about church camp. If we missed something, contact the church office and let us know.

FAQS

What exactly is a church camp?
It’s a retreat for the whole church. Whether you’re single, married with kids, married without kids, or an empty-nester, this camp is for everyone. We'll have singing, teaching, meals, games, and tons of free time.

Where is it?
Camp Maranatha in beautiful Idlyllwild, CA. It’s the same place we held it last year.

Will we be sleeping outside in the forest?
Nope! Our goal is for each household to have a private room with enough beds. If you’re coming solo or without kids, we’ll likely have you in a bunkhouse.

What will my kids do?
Kids will be with us for each of the main sessions. We're working on plans to include them in our times together. There will be plenty of free time for them to play.

Who is coming?

This is just for our church.

I have dietary restrictions. What's the plan for food?
The camp will do what it can to accommodate your dietary needs. Please be sure to note them when you register.

When does it start and end?
Our first session is Friday evening, October 4th. You’ll have time to get up there after school or a short workday. Grab dinner on your way. The final session is Sunday morning, October 6th. We’ll leave after lunch to give you plenty of time to get home and ready for the week ahead.

What about our Sunday service in Orange?
There’s no Sunday service in Orange on October 6th since we’ll still be at camp. So come with us! If you can’t, take the opportunity to visit another gospel-preaching church. Our friends in Santa Ana are just a few miles away and would love to see you that Sunday.

I’d like to go but don’t think I can afford it. What should I do?
It's only $99/adult. Kids under 18 are free! But we understand budgets can be tight. We don’t want money to be the reason you miss out. We have a scholarship fund available for those who need assistance. You may be asked to contribute a portion of the cost. Contact the church office to apply.

Ok, I’m coming! How do I register?
It’s easy and online! Hit this link and follow the prompts.
