Volunteer At Worship God

Volunteer

Yep, we get to do this again! We have a great opportunity to serve the church at large by volunteering at Worship God 2014.  This conference blesses and reaches hundreds of churches and thousands of Christians, and we have a chance to help make this happen.

The volunteers will be able to attend the conference during their serving time slot(s), and during an additional time slot. So, if you serve Thursday Morning, you can attend that sessions plus the Thursday PM sessions. We are excited for this opportunity to serve and be served at Worship God 2014.

We will need people to help with Registration, Greeting, Help Desk, and the Bookstore.

Who Can Sing Up

  • Those 18 and older (if you would like to bring your kids to serve that's great, but they do not need to sign up)
  • Members and Regular Attenders at Sovereign Grace Church OC
  • If you are not at Sovereign Grace Church OC please email the church office to volunteer

Where Are Sign Ups

To sign up, click on this link and select the days and time slots you would like to serve. Use your name and have an email address ready. After you sign up we will follow up with you when we can to see where you would like to serve.

Thank God for Chris

Last Sunday we paused during our service to thank God for Chris. He and his family have been here since the very beginning and their ministry to us is irreplaceable. And it's right to thank God for them.

Affirming God's grace and character in someone not only refreshes the person, but honors God.

Chris has set a wonderful example of what it means to be a leader, in this case as our Worship Leader. Humble, joyful, faithful, never grumbling or complaining, always encouraging and inspiring faith. Today, as other men take over his remaining responsibilities on the music team, they inherit a church full of people who love to sing. Thanks Chris. We thank God for you.

Finding Help for The Helpless
helpless.image.jpg

The helpless are all around us.

They sit in Starbucks nursing a coffee. Share our table at the library. Live on our streets. Hang out in The Plaza. Most of them blend right in and you'd never know it. They're stuck.

Some of them are unemployed and lack the basic skills needed to find a job. Some are so sick they don't know they need a doctor. Or they're out of money and hungry, but still the shame is keeping them from asking for a handout. They're sleeping in their car.

We can't meet every need.

Our hope for the suffering and poor isn't rooted in our ability to meet their needs. There will always be more needs and needy people. We're here first and foremost to testify to the one who can, and does, and will one day fix everything. Jesus Christ.

We can meet one need.

Ever feel like you don't know what to do? You discern a need but lack the resources?

  1. Share the gospel. Let God make his appeal to them to be forgiven and reconciled. Not that alleviating a physical need is unimportant or unnecessary. Just keep everything in perspective. You have the one thing they need most.
  2. Ask God to use you to meet the need. What can you do? This might be the most difficult step because it will require personal sacrifices.
  3. Connect them with others who can help: our church, other ministries, and the many social services. Don't be quick to pass them along, but sometimes their needs are greater than our resources. We've even created a guide to finding them help. Download it onto your phone or stick a copy in your Bible. You never know.
