Why Your Life Online Matters

Some of the more popular places in Orange County have no street addresses. No one would even know if you visited them today or not.

How we conduct ourselves online matters. It matters because there are real people on the other end of our Facebook posts. We can't suspend the command to use your words (and pictures) to encourage one another.

We do business online. We buy stuff online. And there are real businesses on the other end of our transactions. We represent Christ in every transaction, whether we them meet face to face or on Ebay.

We consume media online. We watch video online. We read news online. And the internet makes access to everything quick, easy, private, and anonymous.

We are a community of individual internet users.

The reality is that Sovereign Grace Church (as a congregation) has an online life. So let's live it no differently than we live the rest of our lives on streets and in our homes. Let's live it in community, let's encourage one another towards godliness, and let's help one another do all of the above.

This is why we are offering every adult member of our church a free account with Covenant Eyes, and internet accountability service. We committed to providing the best opportunities to walk out our faith together.

They Labor For Us To Love Jesus

The Sunday morning parade.

One of the best things about our church is the variety of volunteer, servant-leaders that minister to us publicly every Sunday. We aren't the only ones who do this, but it sure makes our Sundays special. It's a like a parade of friends, each taking their turn to spur on greater love for Jesus.

Some weeks we see upwards of 6 or more volunteers leading different parts of our service, and this doesn't even account for the musicians, ushers, and other supporting roles. All of this comes at a real cost...we are only seeing the final product. People have been preparing all week in private. The public moment is the tip of the iceberg.

We are not professionals.

Thank you. All of you. Thanks for making our Sunday worship service some of the best 2 hours in Orange, CA every week.

Inviting Friends To Small Group

The Card Group...

Our small group welcomed special visitors from Dubai this week.  It was the last night of Norooz (the Persian New Year) and Ali and Mina's extended family spent the evening with us feasting on burgers in our backyard.

The kids played games, rode the zip line, and hunted for Easter eggs. Chocolate is truly the international language.

The adults talked non stop.

We were delighted to hear that Californians are much friendlier those they encountered in other states. We were encouraged to hear gratitude expressed for the way we have adopted Ali and Mina into our church family. We swapped parenting tips, learned more about the traditional foods served for Norooz, and talked about camping and hummingbirds. What is it about balmy California evenings with good friends and good food?

Our new friends head for home on Sunday but are planning to come back and go camping with us next summer.

This Is Happening All over Our City This Week

Small Groups this week.

We believe God intends for us to live our lives together, as a community of individuals drawn to one another on account of our relationship with God. We are one body because we are one with Christ.

One of the ways we do this as a local church is through our Small Group Ministry. This ministry isn't just one option among many ministries of the church, this is THE ministry.

Big meetings. Small Meetings.

Our life together is organized into two primary contexts. Our big meetings are our Sunday services. Our small meetings are our small groups. You can get to know us in either context, but eventually you'll find yourself missing half of everything if you only attend one and not the other.

Thankful For Rachel

We thank God for you.

Last Sunday was Rachel's first Sunday on the worship team. Thanks Rachel for all that you are doing to use your gifts to bless our church. Singing for Jesus on Sundays in Old Towne Orange at Sovereign Grace Church is the best!

Dustin Is Preaching At Redeeming Grace This Sunday

Redeeming Grace Church

Our very own Dustin will be preaching at Redeeming Grace Church in Desert Springs this Sunday. It's such a joy to partner with other churches in our region, whether they are part of our denomination or not. They love Jesus out in Coachella Valley just like we love Jesus in Orange. The only difference is that they have a cool music festival every year. And we don't have to fear spontaneously combusting every time we step outside :)
