God Wants You to Serve Other People

The church is a gathering of servants.

Could you imagine a family where some of the members are never invited to make a contribution? A few lead, some follow, and others are just there. Enjoying but never contributing.

Sure you can. It's called a family with infants.

The church is like a family, full of people at different levels of maturity. And there are guests. Not everyone is called to serve all of the time. Yet the one who can must orient himself outward. It's their privilege and an act of obedience. We follow our master, who lived as a servant for us.

We follow the Greatest Servant.

Go here to learn more about how you could serve on a ministry team. There's no pressure. We're not in the business of filling positions and keeping you busy. We want to equip you to fulfill your calling as a disciple.

Introducing Our New Church Council

The Old Leadership Council

Our Pastoral Team has long held regular meetings with a group of trusted advisors from within our church. Men who have served us at critical junctures in our life together. We called them the Leadership Counsel. Here was their mission...

"assemble regularly to provide the pastors with an alternative voice of counsel, a context for relationship, and a forum for accountability."

This provisional forum has served us well and the men who have volunteered their time and energies are to be commended. We are a stronger church because of them. Les Card, Nate Adam, Lucas Enge, and Roger Servin. Thank you!

The New Church Council

Over the past year we have ordained our first two deacons and begun looking forward to calling additional men to join our pastoral team. As we do this, we need to provide a context for the entire body of church officers to do the same thing our Leadership Council has done. And so we are retiring one council and replacing it with another. A council consisting of all current and future pastors and deacons, with the Senior Pastor as Chairman.

The Church Council is where the ministries of our pastors and our deacons intersect. Where the concerns of the deacons are given voice among the pastors, and the needs of the pastors are considered by the deacons.

Please continue to pray for these men. God has been gracious towards us in the past. There's no reason to doubt Him now.

Bi-vocational Pastor Expectations

We have been blessed with a bi-vocational pastor since our very beginnings. Pastor Mike has served us as a volunteer, gladly making costly personal sacrifices matched only by his wife Lois. We're grateful for him (and her) and it's been good. Very good.

As we plan for the future, we want to ensure that we serve the men who serve us. We want to protect them...we have many needs and the work of a pastor is never finished. As a bi-vocational elder divides his time between his occupation and his calling to pastor our church, clear expectations are necessary. So this week our pastoral team adopted just such a document. A statement regarding the ministry and calling of a pastor who serves us full-time, while employed in another profession.

I Want To Make More Friends

From Angie...

I have been to a lot of women’s retreats and always have had a wonderful time. Maybe it is because I lived with 4 men (my husband and 3 sons) for so long? I just need girlfriend time. But there's more to it.

I enjoy getting away to focus on my relationship with the Lord. I also enjoy getting away to focus on the ladies from the church. It’s amazing how much we have in common, even those who I never seem to have time to visit with on a Sunday or church event.

The last retreat I attended.

The last retreat I attended, I went with 2 ladies that I didn’t know very well. It was sponsored by another church. By the end of the retreat, we were all good friends. I was encouraged by their lives and their faith. I learned to appreciate them and their relationship with the Lord as we spent time worshipping, eating, talking, and laughing. I came home refreshed and encouraged and with few new friends.

I want to make more friends.

I am looking forward to our Women’s retreat. As I look around on Sunday mornings there are so many of you that I don't know. I see you and say “hi,” but I haven't ever really spent time with you. And I want to. So please come with me!

Are You Looking For More Friends?

We are small groups.

Are you looking for more friends? More relationships that extend beyond Sundays at church? Our guess is you are and so are we. Christianity is more than a supernatural phenomenon. It has a social dimension as well.

We are one.

You wouldn't know it by visiting us on a Sunday, but nearly the entire church is active in our Small Group Ministry. Why? Because sitting next to each other and listening to a sermon isn't Christianity. The connection between Jesus and you is intended to transform the way you relate to others as well. You can't be a Jesus-only person. We are Jesus plus Jesus-people people. And our Small Groups are designed to make this true.
